Grapes of Wrath - Characters: Ch. 1-7
- Tom Joad - Just being released on parole from four years of prison, Tom is heading his home to meet with his family.
- Jim Casey - He was the preacher before Tom went to jail. Now he no longer believes in the "sperit", and he is taking the journey back home with Tom. Jim believes that we are all here to help one another, and we will all stick together. He is the "Jesus Christ" figure in the book.
- Muley Graves - Muley lived in the same town as Tom. He was to proud to leave when told, so he is creeping around to not get caught. He left his family, and is living off wild animals for food. Muley got his name in this book because he is stubborn as a mule, and has been wondering around his town like a graveyard ghost.
- Pa - He is Tom's Dad
- Ma - She is Tom's Mom
- Al - He is Tom's younger brother. He has been going traveling around.
- Noah - He is Tom's older brother who was harmed during birth, so he is somewhat slow and shy.
- Grandma - She is Tom's grandma; she is very "sperited".
- Grandpa - He is Tom's grandpa. He is mean, yet funny.
- Rose of Sharon - She is Tom's sister. She is married to Connie, an pregnant.
- Connie - He is R.O.S. husband.
- Sairy Wilson - an older woman who her and her husban were broke down on the side of the road. The Joads stop to stay the night at the same spot. They help each other out and become like a family. She is also getting sick and near death.
- Ivy Wilson - He is Sairy's husban. He helps the Joads, and the Joads help him. They all work as a team together.
